I had been posting frequently last April up to early May, but there came a day when I just felt like taking a break for a while… and now I’m back.
It is very hard for me to keep up on blogging and taking photos. I’ll be going to college soon and there are tons of stuff to do. Lots and lots of paperwork. Hopefully, when I’m in college this fall, I’ll be able to blog as much as possible. Right now, I’m in my home in the province and there is really nothing to do and explore here. I have been begging my mom for us to go to an interesting tourist spot. At least there, I can take a lot of photos, film the place, and share it with you.
I guess being alone in the summer and at home has its bad effects on your creativity, but it also has its pros. I have been learning a lot more about US history and the french language. I have also been experimenting on taking portraits using improvised things, such as a large white curtain as a backdrop, and a study lamp that is covered up with cardboard at the sides to focus the light more on the subject I’m taking a photo of. Aside from those, I’m editing our school’s yearbook.
I watched a YouTube video about the most important part of filmmaking (or any other form of art). It’s learning. I know it’s a very vague answer but it’s true. Before entering college (I will be taking Digital Filmmaking), I am learning a lot from books and videos about photography and movie making. In this way, at least I’m equipped with fundamental knowledge of what I’m going to go through. Also, I’m learning the very difficult language of the French people. I have been listening to French music to learn further, but the song that gives me the most advantage is La Marseillaise (the French national anthem) sang by Mireille Mathieu.
Anyway, I really hope that I’ll find time to update this blog. Wish me luck! Cheerio!
